Spendit

Personal finance, made in Canada

A budget built around how you actually live.

Spendit asks a few questions about how you live: whether you rent or own, drive or take transit, cook or eat out. Your budget is built from those answers instead of a 50/30/20 template.

  • Read-only bank access
  • Hosted in Canada
  • No ads, no data brokers

How it works

Getting to your first budget

Most budgeting apps want your bank before they show you anything. Spendit starts with you, and connects to a bank only if you decide it's worth it.

  1. 01

    Answer a few questions

A couple of minutes on housing, how you get around, and how often you cook. No bank connection required to get started, and no card.

  2. 02

    Bring your transactions

Import a CSV straight from your bank's website, or connect an account through Plaid so it updates on its own. Either way the access is read-only: Spendit can read your transactions and nothing else.

  3. 03

    Get a budget that fits

Targets per category, derived from your answers and your real income. Every transaction lands in one of twenty categories, and you can change any of them.

  4. 04

    Keep it current

A brief every Monday morning on what changed, a nudge midweek if something's drifting, and Yazol to ask when you're not sure.

What's included

What Spendit does

Every one of these is included on the free plan.

Budget
Targets for each category, set from your answers and your actual income rather than a fixed percentage split.
Transactions
Sorted automatically into twenty categories: groceries, transit, subscriptions, and the rest. Recategorize anything you disagree with.
Goals
A name, an amount, a date. Progress comes from your real transactions.
Weekly brief
A Monday-morning summary of what you spent last week and what changed.
Yazol, your coach
Ask what you can afford this month, or where the money went. Answers come from your own numbers.
Cashflow & reports
Money in and money out, by period and by category. Drill into any line you don't recognise.

Free & Premium

What the paid plan adds

A live connection to your bank is the only thing that costs us money every month, so it's the only thing you pay for.

Free

Bring your own data

  • Unlimited CSV import and manual entry
  • Every budget, goal, insight and report
  • Your full history, kept indefinitely
  • Export everything, whenever you want

The free plan has no time limit.

Premium

Automatic bank sync

  • Connect your accounts through Plaid
  • New transactions arrive through the week
  • Read-only access you can revoke any time

Every new account gets automatic sync free for 14 days. When it ends, the bank connection is removed and nothing is charged. Your data stays exactly where it is.

Your data

Where your money data goes

Read this before you connect an account.

Your bank password never reaches us
Credentials go directly to Plaid when you link an account. Spendit receives read-only balances and transactions. It cannot move money, make payments, or change anything at your bank.
Hosted in Canada
Core infrastructure runs in AWS's Canada (Central) region in Montreal, encrypted in transit and at rest, with no public database endpoint.
We don't sell it or advertise against it
No data brokers, no ad targeting, no resale. Every third party that touches your data is listed by name in the privacy policy.
Delete everything from the app
Settings → Delete my account removes your data and revokes the bank connection immediately. Here's exactly what gets deleted.
